One of the great things about How Hill is the woodlands. They are right on our doorstep bringing the natural world even closer. A beautiful male pheasant regularly passes by and blue tits, chaffinches and cheeky grey squirrels enjoy the feeders outside, even when we’re close by. Beech, Sweet Chestnut and Oak are among the native species in the dry woodland and in places there is an under carpet of bluebells. Hugging trees was a fun way of learning about the cycle of a woodland and the children enjoyed the hands on approach.
