Roman finds in our area

Today we were lucky enough to have a very special visitor in Y3: Jade’s Grandad, David. He popped into our class this afternoon to show the children some of the artefacts he has found over the forty years of metal detecting. Over the years David has donated many of these artefacts to the Castle Museum in Norwich. However, today he was able to show us some of the special Roman finds he has kept. The children loved the Samien ware pottery. The children held the pottery and could hardly believe it was 2000 years old! He also let the children put Roman rings in their fingers (none got stuck, thank goodness!). The children’s favourites were the Roman coins from the time of Nero. What a wonderful afternoon all thanks to Jade’s Grandad! Many thanks, David!
