Have you ever thought about how wonderful sticks are? They are a fantastic way to encourage children to engage with nature, be creative and use their imaginations!
The children in Years 3 and 4 have been amazing this week, embracing all of the above!
We watched Stick Man on Wednesday which got us thinking ……….we then went on a nature hunt and collected sticks, leaves, grass, stones, blossom and anything else that was available to us on the ground! We went on and made stick men/ladies/animals and families.
On Thursday we read Stanley’s Stick and Not a Stick. The art that followed was truly amazing and children have demonstrated what ‘fantaSTICK’ imaginations they have.
We created pictures where a stick became something else entirely e.g. It’s not a stick, it’s a ……fishing rod!
We also made larger sticks into objects and posed with them!
It has all been a lot of fun and very inspiring!!
