This week Year 1 have stated our new History topic all about Remembrance Day. The children have loved learning about WW1 and why we use poppies to help us remember. We started our topic thinking about our own important memories before discussing why Remembrance Day is important. The children have enjoyed listening to lots of different picture books explaining about the Great War including the animals that served alongside the soldiers. We have explored lots of different ways to remember including making a poppy collage and colouring their own poppy to wear at the Remembrance service.

Year 1 listened fantastically during the church service and behaved beautifully during the two minute silence at the war memorial.
