In Year 6 we have just finished reading the gothic fairytale Clockwork by Philip Pullman. On a dark snowy night, in a small town in Germany, a cast of characters have gathered for food, company and to hear the latest tale from Fritz, the local storyteller, renowned for his ghost stories. The story ticks on relentlessly bringing Karl, the lazy clockmaker’s apprentice, the sinister Dr Kalmenius, the lethal clockwork knight Sir Ironsoul and the kind-hearted Gretl together.

Year 6 were asked to write a part of the story in the first person as Karl. Here are a few….but be warned….some are spine chilling!
