Nursery & Childcare News

Next term is our ‘All Things Super’ theme.

We have planned lots of activities based around some super books such as ‘Supertato’ & ‘Danger Dec’ that will cover lots of the curriculum. Although the staff have a theme running through with planned adult initiated activities we also work on ‘in the moment planning’ too which follows & extends the children’s own interests following the curriculum & the children’s planned next steps.

Our Breakfast & Afterschool Children will also be in for a big surprise when they return on Monday! We were granted some funding from the Sarah Doubleday Foundation Trust which has enabled us to buy some new resources for the children of All Saints Primary who attend the Breakfast & Afterschool Club.

We have vacancies for our out of school services, so if you require safe, secure & welcoming childcare before or after school, please enquire at the children centre building, where our staff will help you.

See you all Monday! Enjoy the rest of half term.

December Nursery Dates for your Diary

The end of term is fast approaching, and the Christmas festivities will be under way from next week. Here’s what we have planned in Nursery:

On Friday 14th December from 1pm until 2.45pm we would like to invite parents and children to our open afternoon. These have become a regular occurrence at the end of every half term, and the feedback from parents has been positive. For this particular one, we invite all children and parents to wear their Christmas jumpers (if you have one) and we invite you into nursery to listen to the Christmas Nativity story being read and the Children will show off their singing skills (hopefully!!) We will also have some Christmas craft activities for you to join in with alongside your children, and also you can catch up with your key workers about the development of your child. If your child does not normally attend on a Friday afternoon, you are more than welcome to come into nursery with them too.

On Tuesday 18th December (this is the last day of term) the nursery will be CLOSED to all children from 12pm. For this afternoon, we would like to invite you to bring your children along to North Elmham Church to join the school children and staff for their annual Christmas Carol Service. On that note, we have a very special, but also sad announcement to make now that the key families who Mel works with in nursery have been individually informed. Our long standing nursery assistant Mel, after 24 years working with this team will be leaving us at the end of this term on Tuesday 18th December. Therefore, we hope as many of you as possible could join the Christmas carol Service, where we can say a special goodbye to Mel, and to thank her for all of her hard work and dedication over the years, we certainly feel that she deserves a medal after so many years of making a difference in so many children’s lives. (Make sure you bring a tissue!)

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the nursery team

Children’s Centres Proposed Closures

Many of you may have read or seen the news that children’s centres within the local area are under proposals to close, with Stibbard being named as one.

This is your chance as parents to have your say on what the building could be used for, if the children centre services can no longer be provided in the building as the proposal sets out. It is for all people of Norfolk to have their say, as well as parents & staff of the nursery & the school.

The nursery, breakfast & after-school club are now managed by the school, so are not classed as one of the services that are provided under a Children’s Centre, but this does mean that if the closures go ahead there might be an opportunity for the nursery & school to extend.

Therefore, we would strongly urge everybody to read the document & have a say on what you would like to see provided in the building if the proposed closures go ahead, by following the instructions on the link below.

The consultation ends at midnight tomorrow so time is running out! Have your say!

Many thanks for your continued support of the nursery, breakfast & after school club

Why we remember…

This afternoons nursery children were very lucky to have taken part in a short walk to Stibbard Church to look at the poppy displays. The children listened to a short cbbc film which explains the reasons in child appropriate terms of why we wear poppies before we left, & that the soldiers helped to keep us safe. The children were impeccably behaved and they are a credit to our nursery! If you have a chance to visit Stibbard Church to see the poppies we highly recommend you go to see the moving tributes inside the Church.
