BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, BELONG

Horstead Day 1 (Wednesday)

We had an amazing first day at Horstead, and all approached our first activities with enthusiasm. We have all learned some new skills and have faced challenges and new experiences. The staff were all very impressed with how supportive of each other the children were. There was a wide range of yummy food to choose from for dinner and the children tucked into jacket potatoes, beans, vegetables and sausages with delicious chocolate cake for pudding. The evening was full of games: rounders, football, table tennis, non-stop cricket and pool to name a few. All were very excited about their first night in dormitories and we are looking forward to another busy day tomorrow.

Lost Jumpers and Coats

Dear Parents,

We have lots of UNNAMED jumpers and coats in school. We have sorted through them and have managed to reunite a few that had faded writing in them.

We will hang up all of this on the pegs outside Mr Watson’s room for you to come and collect.

From the yr 6 Lost property recovery trio team.

Transformation Project

Following on from the children’s roots and shoots creation, they made stick men out of pipe cleaners, then they drew some clothes for them and finally evaluated each other’s. Well Done on your transformations Y2.

End of SATs

We’ve come to the end of the 2024 SATs for Year 6.  The children have tried their very best and we are so proud of how they have behaved and focused during the last four days. It hasn’t all been easy and many questions challenged the children.

Some of our children have attended twice weekly booster sessions to give them the confidence to answer questions and develop their answering skills, we know it isn’t always great to stay behind at school until 4pm, but they did it.

After the final test this morning we treated the children to a cookie baking session, hopefully they have returned home with their cookies for their families to try. This afternoon we made 3d shapes from a 2D shapes before enjoying lollies and lots of snacks from the week.

Well done Year 6, you’ve tried your hardest and that is all we ask from you.

Back to normal tomorrow, remember to go to your own classroom.

Y2 Stick People Project

In Art, Y2 have been looking at turning everyday objects into stick people. They have created these lovely pipe cleaner stick people carrying out a range of activities.
