Well done Reception!
WOW – All the children in Reception have settled in brilliantly.Everyone in class has met some new and old friends, they have constructed castles and bridges, been on minibeasts hunts, painted their hands (and some walls) all whilst learning through their play.
We decided the best way to get through the afternoon was to have some water fun! The children took great delight in giving Mr Whitney a good soaking, but it’s fair to say he gave as good as he got! It was a great afternoon and certainly kept us cool.
On Friday Reception class went on our highly anticipated trip to Bewilderwood! There was much excitement on the bus journey there! It was beautifully warm and sunny when we arrived and after collecting our wristbands we headed into the magical world of the infamous Boggles and Twiggles! We all went on the boat ride to enter the woods. Everyone loved the trip on the boat as we got to see Mildred the crocodile who was very cheeky and blew water at all of us! The children had lots of fun climbing, sliding and balancing on all of the equipment. We were very proud of the children for all having a go , especially when it came to the scary slides! We ate our lunch watching the show, which was very funny and entertained the children. Before we knew it it was time to leave Bewilderwood and board the bus to return back to school. We hope the children all had a great day and have made some very happy memories… it was a lovely way to end our year in Reception all together.
We’ve been exploring the artist Jackson Pollock today. After having a good look at some of his work we made our own pieces by copying some of his techniques.
Reception class have been discussing the jubilee and how there will be the ‘ River of Hope.’ The River of Hope will celebrate children’s artwork from all around the world printed on to silk scarves that will imitate a river. The scarves will show the children’s hopes for the planet over the next 70 years. Reception class have discussed their hopes and written them down for everyone to read.
Reception class have had a super space day today and come to school dressed as astronauts and aliens! We have blasted off to outer space with Major Tim Peake and even had own vip tour of the ISS where we were treated to special space food consisting of freeze dried strawberries and apple pieces. Delicious! A moon walk completes our space journey before travelling safely back to planet earth ready for home time. We are exhausted !
