It has been a very busy week already full of amazing learning. The children have continued to explore place value in Mathematics by using resources to support them in comparing and ordering numbers. In Geography, we compared hot and cold climates around the world by selecting animals from polar and desert areas. In PE, they worked together to create balances on low level apparatus and were so wonderful at supporting each other.
Year 2
KS1 Football Festival
Mrs Morant and Mrs Howe-ward took 10 children from year 1&2 to Goals in Norwich for some football fun activities. The children had great fun learning new skills and worked well in pairs and teams. We were very proud of the children’s behaviour and how well they represented All saints school.
Year 2 – Week 3
Unbelievably, we have been back three weeks already and the children have settled in so well to Y2 routines. They have worked incredibly hard and have achieved so much this week. We have: described the wolf in our English sessions from our book, Little Red Reading Hood; continued to explore number in maths; made simple pulleys in DT; had our first gymnastics lesson using the mats; drawn Diwali inspired light patterns onto the playground using chalk and made sun catchers for our windows.
Water Fun for years 2, 3 and 4
We have had a great afternoon playing water games with the children. They really did enjoy themselves, it was a lovely way to end a very long term.
Year 2 Celebration Assembly
Thank you to all the parents that came to watch our performance, the children were so proud to share their learning with you all this term!
Year Two Religious Education
In our R.E. Lessons this term we are learning about the miracles that Jesus performed. Last week we learnt that he healed a blind man so he could see. We did lots of tasks but covered our eyes so we could imagine what it was like to be blind. This week, we learnt that Jesus healed a paralysed man. His friends had carried him to Jesus on a mat as they believed that Jesus could heal him. We tried to carry a doll on a mat and found that we had to use teamwork and talk to each other with instructions to be able to do this.
Religious Education Year 2
Year 2 are learning about the miracles of Jesus in our R.E. lessons this term. Today we learnt about Jesus calming the storm. We recreated the storm and then it suddenly stopped. This showed that when Jesus told the storm to stop then it was calm straight away.
Year Two Computer Programming
Year 2 enjoyed doing some computer programming today. They used ‘Scratch Junior’ and were able to change the background and move two Sprites across the page.
Year 2 Art Attack!
Miss Flower challenged us with making a giant art picture of a coastal scene to complement our learning in Art, History and Geography. We initially had to draw coastal features such as piers and beach huts before compiling our giant art. Some groups were quite daunted by the size of their area but quickly became inventive with how to show sand, sky and clouds. Each group was very proud of their creation and quiet rightly so!
