BELIEVE, ACHIEVE, BELONG

Year 2 Kenya Double Page Spread

Each half term the children are tasked with displaying their learning in a double page display.  This half term we shared all our knowledge about Kenya.  The children were completely enthralled by the topic and I think you will agree these pages look fabulous!

Year 2 Habitat Boxes

Throughout the last half term, we learnt about a new habitat each week, understanding why an animal would choose to live in a certain location and where they would find water, food and shelter.  The children were then tasked with designing a habitat box to demonstrate their learning.  The children were very proud of their habitat creations and quite rightly so! Can you guess which habitats we learnt about?

Year 2 celebrate the Jubilee

At the end of last term we had a fantastic time at the whole school celebrations for the Queens Platinum Jubilee.  We all came to school dressed in red, white and blue or as a member of royalty.  We enjoyed a day of cake judging, whole school assembly, a street party lunch and sampling a piece of delicious cake!

We had a brilliant day as you can tell by the children’s faces and I’m sure it’s a day they will remember for a long time to come.

Jubilee Day

Stibbard went red, white and blue today to celebrate our Queen’s Platinum  Jubilee. Seventy years of reigning as our monarch. We paraded in our costumes in our Friday Celebration Assembly and sang The National Anthem. It was lovely to have the whole school together singing again!

Year 2 Kenyan Cooking

On Wednesday we enjoyed cooking Kenyan flatbreads. Mrs Jarvis guided us through the process. We loved kneading the dough before leaving it to prove and then finally flattening our dough.  For some of us it was our first experience of cooking and we all really enjoyed it.
During Welly Day we then sampled our cooking and tried both mango chutney and a cucumber dip.  We all thought our pitta bread was delicious!

Year 2 – End of SATs week celebrations

Year 2 worked so hard during SATs week that we enjoyed lots of exciting activities  in the afternoons to let off steam.  During Welly Day we made our own Kenyan kites, we loved decorating them with beautiful drawings and gorgeous colourful ribbons.  We had great fun running down the bank and seeing our ribbons flow behind us.

On Friday afternoon, we celebrated our hard work with an afternoon tea.  We selected and spread our own toppings on our scones and loved eating them too!

Kenyan Oil Pastel Art

Our Art this half term has culminated in these gorgeous oil pastel pictures based on sketches by Martin Bulinya.  They are now proudly hanging from our classroom ceiling for everyone to admire.

It’s the Queens Platinum Jubilee!

Year 2 have loved getting into the spirit of the Platinum Jubilee.  We have enjoyed writing letters to the Queen and are eagerly awaiting our reply.  The class have loved decorating the classroom ready for our jubilee party on Friday and can’t wait for our beautiful bunting to be displayed around the playground.

Year 2 Jubilee Singing

Year 2 have worked really hard to learn this special jubilee song. We hope you enjoy listening to it!
