Year 6 Clay Faces

The children had fun making their faces out of clay today, using a mirror to check their features.

Y6 Draw a Trainer

Year 6 have been learning how to use a pencil to create shading when drawing. Here are some of their shoes they drew.

Year 6 Set Design

Year 6 chose a descriptive sentence and made their sets thinking carefully about texture and colour. Glue guns, PVA, crepe paper and cardboard – just some of the resources used to make these wonderful sets.  The pairs worked well together. Well done Year 6.

Year 6 Cricket

Norwich County Cricket coach Pete came to teach Y6 Cricket skills. They batting and fielding skills are improving as they learn to target their hits to where there are gaps.

Set Design and Dramatic Charcoal

Following on from last week’s mark making using charcoal, Year 6 have set up a design using three objects. They created dramatic pictures using the skills they practised last week. Some used torches to create interesting effects with shadows.

Beliefs Through Art

In RE this term we are exploring how people’s beliefs have influenced art both in the past and today. As a response, the children created their own pictures expressing how they see God in relation to the world. Look out for the binoculars and magnifying glass and the question marks. Their work was thoughtful and each tells a story.

Making Marks

In Art this week Y6 experimented with charcoal. They investigated using different pressure on the page, different ways of holding the charcoal, making different marks and using an eraser to remove the dark grey. They enjoyed experimenting and got thoroughly messy in the process.

Designing and Making Electronic Games

Year 6 have applied their knowledge of circuits gained in Science to design and make an electronic game. There were a few challenges along the way but with cooperation and perseverance hurdles were overcome and much learning took place.

Year 6 embrace their Welly Day experience

The Year 6 children had their 2nd Welly Day this week and were given a really beautiful day for it.

Since we have had a new path cut around the pond we were able to investigate this habitat and the children spotted a number of exciting creatures including water boatmen, a newtlet and a toad!

They really are enjoying the environment and have quickly understood how to use the space and make the most of their time.  They are showing excellent problem solving and creativity in their activities.
