Collective Worship with Open the Book

How lovely to welcome back the Open the Book team with a story connected with our Collective Worship value, Courage. We learnt about the four boys who had the courage to say no to their king when he wanted to feed them food that they knew wouldn’t make them strong. They persuaded him to give them some time to prove that they were right in their decision.

Collective Worship Open the Book

It was lovely to welcome the small Open the Book team into school this week. They were able to come into school an hour earlier so we could be together before the heat became too much.

We learnt about the story Jesus told about loving your neighbours and helping them like you would hope they would do to you.

We feel very fortunate to have an Open the Book team who have committed their time to us. We are looking forward to Eunice and the team returning in September.

Collective Worship The Generosity of Nature

This half term we have focused on the meaning of the value Generosity. We have heard many stories from the bible about people who were generous. Today we thought about how nature is generous. The children came up with many great ideas, trees providing oxygen as well as fruit we can eat, bushes and their berries and the elements needed to aid their growth.

Every child coloured and cut out a hand stencil green and attached a heart to show how we appreciate nature and it’s generosity to us. We then made a tree. Great work All Saints, you worked so well together.

Open the Book

This morning, with Open the Book, we heard the story of Tabitha who went to the market place everyday. She offered to  mend clothes she saw were torn. Tabitha and her friends, she was well liked by many, would work late at night repairing the clothes. In her prayers she thanked God for the generosity of her friends.

One day she woke up feeling really ill, her friends found her and looked for Peter to come and heal her. Peter went and healed her successfully and everyone was very happy.. she returned to mending clothes and handing them out to those in need.

Rev Robin Collective Worship

Today Rev Robin told the children about his friend Robert from many years ago. He explained to Rev Robin about how he was losing his eye sight. He decided he wanted to try and paint and believed it was something he was unable to do. After seeing a picture of Jesus he felt that Jesus was looking into his eyes and telling him he could paint. Robert decided to have a go. The finished result was this painting that Rev Robin is holding. He realised he was able and despite his poor sight continued to paint, he opened a shop and painted many more pictures.

Collective Worship Kidz Klub

We welcomed Joe from Kidz Klub. He asked questions to two friends, they had to write down the answers they thought the other person would answer about their favourite things.

He recounted the story of when he was at university studying Rocket Science and he had a sudden thought about giving up. Joe explained that God is a friend, He asked God to help him decide what he should do.

Collective Worship with Andy Jones

We welcomed Andy Jones and Ashleigh back into our school for Collective Worship. Andy did a trust test with a class of orange juice, luckily his magic worked and no juice spilled over his willing volunteer.

Andy told the story of Peter being asked to trust Jesus when he walked on water, however he became afraid when the wind came and the sea became rough, he lost faith, started to sink but was saved by Jesus reaching out to him.

Collective Worship Kidz Klub

It was lovely to welcome Joe from Kidz Klub into our Collective Worship today. It was our first time experiencing Kidz Klub, he talked about Generosity and how important it is to be generous towards others. He asked the children the question, What have you got to give. Maybe money, time, a game etc.

Some of the children had a competition against each other, the challenge was to gather as many cups and put them in the person’shoop. The winner was the one who got the most in the other hope. It showed generosity to someone else.

Collective Worship with Rev Robin

We welcomed Rev Robin into school this morning. He explained how he had lived in many places from childhood until now. He knew that God wanted him to trust him and follow him. Rev Robin discovered that when he drew crosses for their places he had lived and then he joined them up,  the lines formed a spiral like a finger print. His message was to trust and know that one day you might feel that God is helping you to make decisions.

Andy Jones Collective Worship

We welcomed the return of Andy Jones and Ashleigh this morning. They led Collective Worship with our theme of Thankfulness. They told a story where the children had to suddenly react with a pose when they heard certain words, it was great, the children really had to listen hard. They also went through scenarios where we need to show we are thankful. Thank you Andy and Ashleigh, we always look forward to seeing you and welcoming you to All Saints.
