Governor Monitoring: EYFS & KS1

Sue Graves (NE governor) and I had a fantastic morning at Stibbard. We were welcomed in to the first Collective Worship with Father Michael. The children enjoyed a story and joined in with the Lord’s prayer.

We started in Reception seeing their phonics session in action. They were working so hard and impressed us both with all the sounds they had already learned! We had a quick look at their fantastic Tapestry journals.

We went on to join Year 1 in English then Year 2 in Maths. Year 1 were re-telling a story using actions. We really enjoyed their performances. Year 2 were busy learning about money. When I asked a group of children if they thought this was a useful thing to learn, all said ‘yes’ except one who said it was fine he would just take all his money to the bank to be counted! They were having great fun handling the coins and notes.

Break time was full of fun and energy. We had some really good conversations with the children. It was lovely to see year group and gender mixing.

I then joined Nursery during song and story time. They all seemed to have settled back in to the new term. Excellent to see their Tapestry Journals that will travel through to Reception with them. Meanwhile Sue really enjoyed the talk from the visiting author, James Campbell. It was really inspirational and there was lots of laughter from both children and staff!

Thank you for a fantastic morning.

December Nursery Dates for your Diary

The end of term is fast approaching, and the Christmas festivities will be under way from next week. Here’s what we have planned in Nursery:

On Friday 14th December from 1pm until 2.45pm we would like to invite parents and children to our open afternoon. These have become a regular occurrence at the end of every half term, and the feedback from parents has been positive. For this particular one, we invite all children and parents to wear their Christmas jumpers (if you have one) and we invite you into nursery to listen to the Christmas Nativity story being read and the Children will show off their singing skills (hopefully!!) We will also have some Christmas craft activities for you to join in with alongside your children, and also you can catch up with your key workers about the development of your child. If your child does not normally attend on a Friday afternoon, you are more than welcome to come into nursery with them too.

On Tuesday 18th December (this is the last day of term) the nursery will be CLOSED to all children from 12pm. For this afternoon, we would like to invite you to bring your children along to North Elmham Church to join the school children and staff for their annual Christmas Carol Service. On that note, we have a very special, but also sad announcement to make now that the key families who Mel works with in nursery have been individually informed. Our long standing nursery assistant Mel, after 24 years working with this team will be leaving us at the end of this term on Tuesday 18th December. Therefore, we hope as many of you as possible could join the Christmas carol Service, where we can say a special goodbye to Mel, and to thank her for all of her hard work and dedication over the years, we certainly feel that she deserves a medal after so many years of making a difference in so many children’s lives. (Make sure you bring a tissue!)

If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the nursery team

Nursery News-Autumn term 2

We are looking forward to welcoming back our families after October half term.

The nursery faerie’s have been busy over the half term & have once again spread some magic in our nursery, making it an exciting environment to come back too, with a change of room layout & resources to reignite the children’s interests again.

We are going to be having a focus on maths and our topic will be ‘Marvellous Me’. Now all of the new children have settled into nursery life it is a great time to give them opportunities to talk about themselves and the things that are important to them, all of which will be covered throughout this next half term…also discussing celebrations they take part in toward the end of the term,  leading into the festive period. Yes it really is coming around that quickly!

The nursery, breakfast & after-school club numbers are ever increasing. Therefore we have limited spaces to accept 3 to 4 year olds from January 2019. Our 2 year spaces are extremely limited too, so if you are interested in your child attending our nursery please enquire without delay. We do have quite an extensive waiting list in place. We still have spaces for the breakfast & after-school club for your after school childcare needs with amazing activities provided every day!

For any enquiries please feel free to pop in or email Tracey Bunting Daycare Manager on
