Nature Alive at Stibbard!

Last Sunday a team of volunteers from the Fakenham Area Conservation Team (FACT) along with Mel Dagless from the Nursery and coordinated by Alison Woodward parent and school governor spent a lot of the day sorting out our wildlife area and pond which had become incredibly overgrown and not very accessible to the children.

This is just the start as there are going to be some new plants added to encourage more diverse wildlife such as yellow flag iris, crab apple, alder buckthorn, guelder rose and honeysuckle.

There are also plans to renovate our bird hide.

We are very grateful to Alison and the team of volunteers who have given freely of their time to benefit both wildlife and the children.

More volunteers are welcome to get involved. Please let us know in the school office if you are.

World Book Day in Year3

World Book Day was worth waiting for, even if it was a few days later than planned this year!

Year 3 looked amazing in their Book Day outfits and they proudly waved their wonderful flags for the whole school during our assembly this afternoon. Well done to everyone for all of the hard work that went into creating the flags and the outfits.

All of the children will be bringing their £1 Book token home tonight- look out for them in the orange homework books. There is also a letter about the travelling book fair, which will be in school from Wednesday next week.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Niven

Year 5 and 6 Reading Cafe

This morning was the turn of Years 5 and 6 to hold their reading cafe. The book we were reading is called The Tunnel by Anthony Browne. The whole school are concentrating on it this week.

We read the book out aloud stopping at the Waste ground scene where the children thought of noun phrases to describe what they could see. They then thought of questions they could ask others about where the tunnel led to, finally we made still scenes of the forest trees which gave characters hidden amongst them.

Thank you to the parents and grandparents who managed to join us despite the snowy conditions.
