Year 1
Welcome to the Year 1 Class Page!
Year 1 learn together in a play based environment that provides the perfect stepping stone from Reception. We have a lovely classroom that is well resourced and offers a safe, exciting and inspiring learning environment. Our classroom is arranged to encourage the children to access resources, working walls and sound mats independently to scaffold and support their own learning. The children learn in a supportive but challenging environment enabling them to work both collaboratively and independently. We encourage Year 1 to learn from their mistakes and develop the skills to persevere even when finding a topic challenging. In Year 1 we encourage the children to use the skills and knowledge acquired from teaching inputs and apply these independently to learning tasks to begin to take responsibility for their own learning.
We love reading and read every chance we get; the classroom reflects this with a variety of books linked to each term’s topic. We are creative thinkers, confident speakers, compassionate friends and imaginative problem solvers!

Year 1 Toy Spinners
Year 1 have been designing and making toy spinners with Mrs Cairns this term. They were excellent at thinking about how to improve their designs.
KS1 Football Festival
Mrs Morant and Mrs Howe-ward took 10 children from year 1&2 to Goals in Norwich for some football fun activities. The children had great fun learning new skills and worked well in pairs and teams. We were very proud of the children’s behaviour and how well they represented All saints school.
Week 4 in Year 1
Wow, we have now been back to at school for a month! In that time the children have learnt how to be more independent and resilient learners, making choices about their own learning and collaborating with peers to aid understanding. Week 3 with Year 1

The First 2 weeks in Year 1
The children have really taken to Year 1, they have adapted so well to new routines and enjoyed spending time with old friends. Year 1 and Year 5 water games
After a hot week, the children cooled off with some water games. They all enjoyed water run games, duck duck splash, water balloon volleyball, water fighting and using the sprinkler. All the teachers got very wet – thanks to some of the children!
